I fell in love with the practice of yoga at an early age and knew instinctively that it would open the doors to a path of self discovery. After thirty years of ‘going back to the source’ to find the body, mind, and spirit connection, I decided to become certified to teach Hatha Yoga. I earned my certification with Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training to teach Kripalu yoga in 2001. Also, I have achieved my Master Teacher Level in the practice of Reiki.

During the past thirty eight years, I have been involved as a professional educator at many levels in the school system as well as in my community of Guysborough, Nova Scotia, and I enjoy sharing my passion for yoga with people of my community and surrounding areas. Over the years I have taught the practice to tots, teens,Seniors and the very elderly in a nursing home venu. I have worked with special needs children, with seniors and with mobility-challenged individuals. I love the energy that each of the different age-groups brings to this ancient practice. To this end, I have recently earned a certificate in teaching”Yoga For Seniors Level 1 & 2″;Yoga Ed K-8 program and 9-12 program this has given me more tools and insights into what seniors and youth see as issues in their daily lives.

During the summer of 2007, I was able to spend 12 weeks at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts, volunteering in the PATH (personal, authentic, transformational, holistic) Program where I was to able to study with a variety of teachers such as Suda Carolyn van Lundeen, Paul and Suzee Grilley, Deepak Chopra, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, and many others. This opportunity provided me with greater insights into the varied yogic paths and also served to enhance my own personal practice.

At home in Guysborough I have facilitated weekend and evening workshops and clinics in various aspects of Yoga and Reiki. In the Autumn of 2009 I’ve presented a training session in the Halifax area for yoga teachers (200hr level) who wish to include classes for children in their studio programs. This included program planning and awareness of the unique issues that arise for instructors outside the realm of the school system such as the different psychological and physical needs of children of different ages and how to adopt classic yoga to different age levels. As well there was a component on the business of yoga outside the school system and liability,special needs children, parental involvement etc.

I have used Yoga in my classroom teaching for the past 38 years to aid students and myself to focus and grow. With the Yoga Ed program training I also have the background and resources to share that passion with other teachers in the school system. …..a few short moments teaching and reinforcing skills in yoga and awareness delivers the benefits of a receptive and focused group of students to work with…much more can be accomplished.

I truly enjoy the out of doors and the name ‘Pathways Yoga’ came to me on the beautiful Trans Canada Trail in Guysborough . If a picture is worth a thousand words, then here are a couple of thousand for you to ponder.
