Fall 2016 Session Begins

Yoga Classes begin this week in Guysborough. Whether you are new to the practice or a seasoned yogi there is something here for everyone. Come and try out a session and reap the benefits of connecting the Body ,mind and Spirit.

Blizzard Warning

Due to the drastic forecast of a winter blizzard hitting Guysborough on Tuesday, January 27th, the scheduled Men’s Yoga class for that evening will be postponed.

Pathways Winter Session – 2015

The 2015 Winter Session of Pathways Yoga will continue with our regular classes; however, due to the scheduled use of the Jost Waterfront Facility by another community group, our winter schedule will be taking place in Chedabucto Place.

The following Sessions will begin during the week of January 12th …

Tuesdays –

Men’s Yoga: Time: 7:00 to 8:00 PM

Location: Chedabucto Place (Performance Center Stage)
Cost: $60 for 8 weeks

Wednesdays –
Moderate (After Work) Yoga: Time: 4:30 to 5:30 PM
Location: Chedabucto Place
Cost: $60 for 8 weeks

Thursdays –
Children’s Yoga: Time: 2:30 to 4:00 PM
Location: Chedabucto Place
Cost: $30 for 8 weeks

Adult Intermediate Yoga: Time: 7:00 – 8:30 PM
Location: Chedabucto PLace
Cost: $60 for 8 weeks

Pathways to Autumn

                          


Hello folks ,
Well the summer is winding down and if you are like most of us you probably have a yen deep down to get back to a gentle routine and experience the flow of the closing down of summer. And what a summer it was …off to a wet cold and shaky start but when the warm weather arrived we viewed the many moods of weather from our perch at the Jost Waterfront Building during our morning yoga classes. I am so inspired by the hearty souls who got up twice a week and did a yoga practice with me at 7:00 am you all made me so proud of you …..and to the group of four ladies who got up at 5:30 (while on VACATION) drove an hour and change to be there with us ……YOU take the prize!

I am looking forward to welcoming back the group who have been with us for many years and excited about those who may show up for the first time. The fall schedule is below along with the class descriptions if you know of someone who is interested  in joining and not sure what to expect ….take them to a class …there is no charge to try a class out.

Mondays … 10:00 AM @ Boylston Community Center (adults – gentle) / 7:00 PM @ Mulgrave (adults)
Tuesdays … 10:00 AM @ Ferry Lane Apt.(seniors) / 4:00-5:15 PM @ CEC (adults)
Wednesdays … 6:30-8:00 PM @ Queensport (adults)
Thursdays … 2:30 PM @ CEC (kids yoga) / 7:00 PM @ Jost’s Building – Guysborough (adult – level 2)

Monday Mulgrave Yoga is open to all levels and covers the basics of yoga giving postures as well as hints and ideas for helping us to stay focused, deal with stress, and build strength and flexibility. (8 wks)

Tuesday Seniors’ Program continues at Ferry Lane Apartments and it will focus on the needs of seniors to keep active enabling them to move with grace by building strength and awareness through the ever changing situations as we age. (Classes will be ongoing throughout the year)

Tuesday After-Work Gentle Flow … this class is also open to all levels and covers the basics of yoga postures as well as hints and ideas for helping us to stay focused, deal with stress, and build strength and flexibility. ( 8 wks)

Wednesday Morning Gentle Flow Yoga is for those new to yoga who want to maintain flexibility and strength and also want to experience the body / mind connection; this class will also be tailored to the needs of the group. (8wks)

Wednesday Evening All Levels Class in Queensport has its emphasis on the interdisciplinary process of moving through the autumn season allowing for focus and strength to stay active as the colder weather approaches. (8wks)

Thursday Children’s Yoga is a mix of creative movement, using Yoga Ed for Elementary Grades, enabling children to to learn quiet focus and creative exploration of classic yoga poses. (8wks)

Thursday Adult (Level 2) Practice will be a class evolving from the willful practice of the poses to moving meditation focusing on a deepening understanding of the roots of yoga and the mind / body connection. (8wks)

Sun dancing on Chedabucto Bay

On Saturday, February 16, we had a wonderful experience of yogic dance and Yoga Nedra as my teacher, Jody Myers, was a guest presenter here in Guysborough at the Jost Waterfront Building. We experienced a journey through the Chakras as the golden sun poured into the building like liquid honey. Jody took us through a restorative meditation process called yoga Nedra where we had the  opportunity for our systems to heal on the deepest levels. We finished with a lovely meal and lively chatter before we went our separate ways. 

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Jody who did the three-hour journey each way on winter roads to be with us, and to all the beautiful ladies who came and danced their spirits with us. It seemed that the whole of the universe conspired to make the day perfect … the weather, the roads, the food, the delightful dancers, and the perfection of Guysborough by the sea.

Thank you all for allowing me to serve in this way.

This Saturday, January 19th, there will be an opportunity provided for new (and former) yoginis in the area. From 10 AM to noon at the Jost’s Waterfront building, there will be a (FREE OF CHARGE) Introduction To Yoga session. You will have a chance to learn about the practice, ask questions and share insights.

So, if you, or someone you know, would like to ‘try it out’, to spend a morning of easy-flow exercise among like-minded people in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, we hope to see you there.

Sharing Ideas in Classroom Yoga

Friday, October 26th, is the Provincial Teachers Conference Day.

I have been asked to share some ideas and techniques about using Yoga as a classroom activity to help enhance student learning.

We will be discussing topics like focusing, relaxation with the understanding that there should be no extra burden of cost, time, or resources required to engage their classes in this fun, meaningful, and worthwhile practice.

I am so excited to be sharing this time with the teachers.

Update on Fall Sessions

Registration week for the Fall sessions has just concluded and here is what is happening; there will not be  classes at the Jost Building on Wednesday mornings or on Wednesday evenings. 
The Moderate flow class on Thursday evenings is filling up and it looks like the Fall will be focused flow. Wonderful group of Yoginies!!!
We will be looking at the possibility of early morning classes once again next Spring here in Guysborough , and perhaps a beginner (Gentle Yoga) class here after Christmas.

Classes Begin

The fall sessions are about to begin …Actually, we have ALREADY begun in Mulgrave with a great introduction last night (Tuesday).
Registration for Gentle Class is tonight Wednesday) at 7:00PM at the Jost Waterfront Building
and tomorrow night (Thursday) is Registration for Moderate class at the Jost Waterfront Building also at 7:00 PM.
If you are thinking of attending one of these classes and are not able to be there on the first night please let me know by email or call me at 533-2489 so I can plan for class size.
FYI children’s Classes will begin at Guysborough Academy with registration on Thursday, Sept 20th after school.

Time to Begin

KARMA means to PAY FORWARD.

Pathways Yoga will be providing an opportunity to experience an ALL LEVELS KARMA YOGA SESSION. This will take place on Wednesday, September 12th at 7 PM in the Jost’s Waterfront Building. A ‘Free-will Offering’ will be collected, with ALL proceeds being donated to the NS ARTHRITIS SOCIETY ‘JOINTS IN MOTION’ CAMPAIGN (That is how we can ‘Pay Forward’!!)
